Welcome
This digital garden is a collection of my documentation, notes, and thoughts on various subjects I've learned so far and continue to explore in my career and hobbies. It's not meant as a definitive guide or replacement for existing sources of information, but rather a way to graft those sources into a format that helps me understand, reference, and (hopefully) help someone else.
Getting Started
Pages are presented non-linearly, so the best way to navigate and look for relevant information is to use the search bar. Most pages will also feature a "next steps" or links to other relevant pages.
Digital gardening is an iterative process that provides content in various states of "finished". To help understand a page's current state, three statuses are used:
- 🌱 Seedling for very rough and early content
- 🌿 Budding for content I've cleaned up and clarified
- 🌳 Evergreen for content that is reasonably complete (though I'm still tending to over time).
Continuing with the garden themes, pages will use the following:
- Planted - when a page was first created
- Last Tended - when it was most recently updated
Finally, at the bottom of each page, you'll find "Grafts", which represent references or sources from where the information came.
Several elements of this site, including the page status terms and certain metadata labels, were adapted from Maggie Appleton's "Patterns of Digital Gardening". Which was a significant influence on how content is organized and cultivated.
Feedback
This site is a living document that will continue to grow and change as I learn and refine its content, much like tending a real garden. I believe that documentation is only as good as the next person who understands it, so any constructive feedback is welcome. I am passionate about learning and deepening my understanding of various topics.
